Joshua ISD's vision is to be a highly acclaimed model of educational excellence, and a new study shows that to be true.

Wallethub.com released their most equitable school districts in Texas, and JISD comes in at 59 out of 1,016 districts in the state. JISD had the highest spot out of all schools in Johnson County.

The article notes that the average household income in JISD is $66,946, and the expenditures for public elementary and secondary schools per student is $10,633; earning a score of 2.13.

The scoring was based on two metrics: average household income and expenditures for public elementary and secondary schools per pupil. For expenditures, for each one percent above the state's average, one point was removed from a base score of 50 points per district. For household income, for each one percent above the state's average, one point was added to a base score of 50 points per district. The inverse was true for each one percent below the state's average. 

The final score for each district was calculated by taking the absolute difference between the score for expenditures and the score for household income. Districts were then ranked based on the total score, the lowest value being the most equitable. Data was collected from the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Center for Education Statistics.

Overall, Texas ranked 24th in the most equitable school districts in the United States.
